Introductions and Discussion of objectives:

Participants will:

         Upon completion of this session, you will:

1.      Identify and use terminology related to the Nintendo Wii.

2.      Develop frameworks-based project/activity ideas that require the use of the Nintendo Wii.

3.      Plan, design, and create a lesson plan that integrates the use of the Nintendo Wii in projects/activities.

4.      Demonstrate through discussion the successful integration of the Nintendo Wii into projects/activities into curricular instruction

Whole group: [30 minutes]

            Activity 1

Nintendo Wii setup.  You will set-up or go over the process to set-up the internet connection and the Internet Channel on the Wii. 

Activity 2

View getting started activities for the Wii and its controllers.

View sites that have flash interactive education activities that can be adapted to the Nintendo Wii.

Think of an area or framework you teach that would be enhanced by using the Wii.  Please jot down your ideas.

Independent Work: Brainstrorm and Creating [120 minutes]

Brainstorm in content area/grade level groups on ways to use the Wii.

Create a simple webpage (wiki, district website or word document) to post links to websites with flash interactive education activities

Create hyperlinks on the webpage (wiki, district website or word document) projects that can be shown to students as an example related to the lesson plan you will create.

Use the Project Lesson Plan Template to make a complete plan for using the Wii in your classroom. Include framework strands. Curriculum frameworks can be found at http://arkansased.org/

Develop learning activities for the lesson plan.

Practice your activity or activities with the Wii.

Create any worksheets, instructional materials, assessments, etc. that will be needed.

Develop or locate a rubric for student assessment. Recommend RubiStar: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/

All participants will share products at the conclusion of today’s session
